And then, of course, there is the pride of the city: the New Church. Not because you all have to climb up (you can, but you don't have to), but because this place does something with perspective. Delft breathes history, and that puts things into perspective. Suddenly that one work challenge feels just a little less daunting, especially when someone says out loud, "Okay, this has been here for hundreds of years, we'll manage this project too."

What makes team building in Delft so strong is that it never feels forced. The city invites cooperation without anyone noticing. People talk easier, laugh faster and discover talents in colleagues that are normally hidden behind e-mails and meetings. Such as who keeps a surprisingly good overview, who keeps the group together and, above all, who keeps the atmosphere good - just as important.

At the end of the day you walk through Delft with a team that is just a little bit closer than this morning. Not because someone put it in the script, but because it just happened along the way. With tall tales of detours that "accidentally" turned out to be better than the shortest route, plans that were spontaneously adjusted because someone shouted, "No wait, this doesn't feel right," and that one magical moment when everyone thought at the same time: okay yes... working together is actually quite enjoyable, as long as you don't have to do it every day.
